The Disciple Bible Study program was created “to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:12)
It is designed for all who want to grow in their understanding of scripture and of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ. Disciple is a life-changing, in-depth Bible exploration. Besides the personal devotional and spiritual discipline these programs facilitate, Disciple also offers the great advantage of studying, growing and interacting with others, working in an interactive class once a week. In small groups, you will discover mutual support, prayer, new insights and preparation for servant-hood.
Disciple I – Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study
Disciple I (which is the prerequisite to the others), is an overview of the Bible from beginning to end; giving equal time to both the Old and New Testament, emphasizing the wholeness of the Bible as the revelation of God. It starts with the basics and has as its goal for participants to become biblically nourished and committed to live as disciples.
Disciple II – Into The Word, Into The World
Disciple II challenges and prepares participants to bring faith into everyday life in new ways while concentrating on Genesis, Exodus, Luke and Acts. Emphasizing the practice of spiritual disciplines, it encourages participants to demonstrate to others, through daily relationships, how being a Christian has made a difference in their life.
Disciple III – Remember Who You Are
Disciple III focuses on the Old Testament prophets and the letters of Paul and confronts the questions: What are life’s priorities? What are society’s priorities? What does God require of His people? Several themes weave their way through the study: the call to remember, the call to repentance, the need for renewed vision, and the place of community.
Disciple IV – Under the Tree of Life
Disciple IV focuses on the writings in the Old Testament: Ruth, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther, Job, Psalms, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, Lamentations, and Daniel; and New Testament Scriptures: the Gospel of John; 1, 2, and 3 John; James; Jude; and Revelation. It emphasizes the Psalms as a way of praying, the wisdom teachings as a way of living and the book of Revelation as a way to worship God in hope and victory.
